You could be right...though it seems to me that the dedication would simply be to study and experience...a student's path, so to speak.

My personal opinion is that if you had not even had the thought of doing a dedication...it is not the right time for you. A dedication of any sort, even simply to continuing your studies, is a highly personal decision. You should be the one that says to your teachers "I am ready, I want to dedicate myself." not have one of them prod you and tell you they think it is time.

Truly think this over before commiting to anything. You must feel deep in your heart that this is what you want, need, and are fully ready for. You must know exactly what you are dedicating yourself to. Do not rush yourself because your teacher says it is time. Make certain your heart and soul are what guide you.

There is no real rush. He just brought it up to talk about. It's clear to me that I have the choice and final say on everything.

You said you have mentors. Do the mentors know each other? If so, what does your other mentor, or mentors, say or how do they feel about this?

This person could have good intentions, but I sense you are being pushed and/or rushed. It could even be that they see more in your potential and future than you realize. But, it could be rushing you for other things/reasons. They could be well intentioned, but is there a possibility that your being dedicated/at a certain level, could in turn benefit this person? I don't know why I'm getting an odd feeling (and not about you, I think from what little I know of you that you are great) that something just doesn't fit.

I think prayer and meditation with The God and Goddess (and/or gods and/or goddesses, or even just one if you have one patron or really strong connection you communicate strongly with) would be a good idea.

I do feel dedication can make a person committed. But, it wouldn't be good if it ends up a person is dedicated into a way to guilt them into doing things or not turning back.

I just find it odd (and not on your part) that you didn't really consider this and they propsed the ritual to take place in such a short time from now. For most rituals, I could maybe see stating that time frame and suggesting something. But, dedication is for your entire life.

I myself haven't been dedicated yet because I know I need a break from school and to live in a different envirornment. The people around me (aka parents) are not bad people, its just not the right situation.

Do you feel you are in the right place (physically, spiritually, and with other factors)?

I'm not saying any of these things to be mean to/about you. I just don't want you to regret such a big step.

Yes! They're actually fairly close friends. They've both worked in the same pagan store, and they see each other every now and then. They go back quite some years. Plus, the owner of the store has known both of them maaaaaany years, years before I even knew it existed. They're all very lovely people.

I haven't asked my other teacher-lady-person about the dedication ritual; I didn't think I had to. *Shrugs*

I don't feel being pushed or rushed at all. If there's any of that energy that you're getting, it's probably mine. I have Mars in Aries, and that's a cardinal sign (as are all 5 of my _____ in Capricorn placements). I tend to give off pushiness or rushing, and occasionally I accidentally project this unto others, especially my mom. This particular mentor you're talking about isn't rushed/rushing at all.

No, I see what you're saying, but I don't think he's guilting me into it, nor would he guilt-trip me about it should I make the decision to refuse. If he did, I'd nip that in the bud, because guilt-tripping is one of my personal pet peeves.

I don't find it odd. There are many things I don't think of. It's just an idea on his part. It's far from set in stone. Having gone through dedication rituals himself, I do believe he knows about the entire life bit, too.

That's why I started this thread, as well as consulted both tarot and runes. So far, all signs point to yes. And, recently, having had my astrology personally interpreted by a friend of mine, it seems that my timeframe would be fairly good for it, if a couple of days early, going on my approaching transits. If nothing else, the end of April and beginning of May, even unto the middle of May, is a great time for me to do work.

I understand, and I appreciate your concern, but I don't think there's too much to worry about here. But, I thank you for the opportunity for me to think about this more, as well as to respond to you.
